Rock bits are divided into steel tooth bit and TCI tricone bit. The size is 4 3/4’’, 5 1/2’’, 6’’, 6 1/2’’, 7 1/2’’, 8 1/2’’, 9 1/2’’, 10 5/8’’, 11 5/8’’, 12 1/4’’, 13 5/8’’, 14 3/4’’, 15 1/2’’, 16 1/2’’, 17 1/2’’ etc. To increase steel teeth life, steel teeth are hardfaced with wear-resistant tungsten carbide based material. The gauge may be protected with tungsten carbide inserts. Shirttail is hardfaced along its leading edge.
Shirttail and leg leading edge are hardfaced and may be protected with tungsten carbide or diamond inserts or a combination of tungsten carbide and diamond inserts. Bits may have stabilization features.
